Image description: A woman wearing a strapless dress with a blue and white design on it, in the style of the 1930s. Her arms are held forward in a rounded shape. Her head is tilting to the right as she looks at her hands.

Notes from Diane: The Moving through Time tea party event took place at the Parkside Cottage Museum, Narrandera in September 2023. Locals were invited to choose an object from the permanent collection that inspired them and ignited a memory. They ventured out into the vast collection to choose one item that resonated with them. We came back to the table and shared those stories with the group.

Each participant's gestures are the key choreographic components of this film. All are borne from the group's collection of physical movements and motifs that reimagine an object from the museum’s permanent collection, bringing it from the past into the present.

In this film, I am amalgamating all the gestures & nuances from their stories into a collective dance story. Throughout this project, dance was used as the creative glue for empowerment and social connection.
